This week in Art Class

The 6th graders are working on creating shadows and adding shading to create forms.  I've been super impressed with their work so far!

The 1st graders are learning about texture.  They used crayons to do a texture rubbing of some different items (tree bark, carpet, window screens etc.).

The 4th graders did a SUPER job showing movement and value.  These three students all created tints.

This week in art class

The 6th graders have been working on drawing shadows and adding shading.  We created Lego building and draw their shadows, then went outside to see what other shadows we could find.

Kinder is learning about patterns...a BIG job! We started with foam shape patterns and are working our way up to creating snakes with pattern skin.

COLOR!

Fourth grade is learning about tints, shades and tones.  We are creating projects that show movement of an object and using different values of a color to paint them.

Second grade is working on expressive sunsets.  They will use oil pastels to create a sunset over the ocean, then paint them using watercolors.  We are focusing on warm and cool colors.

Family Art Night Kinder/1st

Photo Gallery by QuickGallery.com

We had such a great time making tote bags with our families!  We talked about shapes, colors and lines before we started.  The students had so many creative ideas!  Thanks to everyone who came out.  Hope to see more at our next two Art Nights!

Contour Zentangles and Perspective

Our 5th graders are working on creating a contour drawing and adding Zentangle around it.  It's such a fun project (I loved making the samples!) and they are doing a super job.

The 6th graders are working on perspective drawings, which are harder than they look! They are doing a great job!

All 5th & 6th graders should have turned in their disclosure by now.  I've spoken with the students who are missing it.  Grades are posted for Sketchbook covers.
Have a great 3 day weekend!
